These journeys show different starting points, different challenges and different forms of progress. What matters is not that every student followed the same route, but that each decision was considered in the context of the student and what came next.

Doctoral · University of Cambridge

From a master’s to a fully funded Cambridge PhD

This journey began with a master’s application to SOAS, University of London.

When doctoral study later became the goal, the work evolved with the student. Echos helped identify the right academic supervisor, supported the personal statement and worked closely on the research proposal.

The result was a fully funded PhD place at the University of Cambridge. The student has now completed the doctorate.

An LLM at Cambridge, with a Chevening Scholarship

Two highly competitive applications had to work together.

Echos supported the student through the Cambridge LLM application while, in parallel, developing the strategy for the Chevening Scholarship application.

Both succeeded. The student was admitted to Cambridge and awarded a Chevening Scholarship.

Undergraduate · LSE

A funded place at LSE, and then a mentor for the next student

Echos first supported this student through the undergraduate application and scholarship process, leading to a funded place on the BSc Economics programme at the London School of Economics.

The journey continued. He later completed a master’s in Data Science at LSE, began his career as a Data Analyst in London and eventually returned to Echos in a different role.

Today, he is one of our mentors, supporting students who are beginning journeys of their own.

Foundation · King’s College London

From his weakest subject to a 93

This student began the King’s International Foundation Programme with only the minimum required level in mathematics and English.

Mathematics was his greatest academic challenge, so it became a central focus of his tuition and mentoring.

He completed the Foundation with a 75% overall average and scored 93 in mathematics, once his weakest subject. He progressed to Business Management at King’s College London.

A setback turned into a stronger direction

Before coming to Echos, this student had not passed their foundation year and had originally chosen a degree programme that did not reflect their strengths.

The first task was not simply to repeat the year. It was to reconsider the direction.

Following Echos’s assessment, a more appropriate pathway was identified and the student repeated the foundation year with structured mentoring throughout. They completed the year with a 70% average and progressed to Queen Mary University of London.

A late application, a focused preparation

This student came to Echos at short notice, after the usual preparation window for many selective school applications had already passed.

Over two weeks, around twenty hours of focused preparation were used to strengthen readiness for the application process.

She received an offer from Cheltenham Ladies’ College.

What connects them is not a particular institution or a single definition of success. It is the willingness to understand the student, make the right decision for that moment and remain attentive to what comes next.

Each journey reflects one student’s circumstances at a particular moment. Institutions, qualifications and outcomes are verified before publication, and privacy or consent is considered before any identifying information is shared.

A previous student’s result is evidence of what happened in that case. It is not a promise that the same route will produce the same outcome for another student.
